With the North Node in the Gate of Spirit (55), I’m calling this nodal season “Emergence.” We’ll experience the global Channel of Emoting (39-55) three times this nodal season as Venus, Mercury, and the Sun move through Gate 39 (Provocation) while the North Node is moving through Gate 55. As an Individual emotional channel connecting the Root center to the Solar Plexus, it produces an emotional spike wave of passion that shifts from social to antisocial. Because of this, it’s also referred to as the Design of Moodiness. In my understanding of human design mechanics, passion is the embodiment of emotions. Any emotion can be experienced as passion when it’s embodied, including anger. Emergence, in this sense, refers to the experience of an emotion moving into and through the body — a passionate experience of spirit as it emerges in form.

On the other side of the opposition, the South Node in the Gate of Sexuality, a Sacral gate that generates energy, or not, in response to an other. This is the energy for intimacy, in all forms. There’s an interesting relationship between this Tribal Sacral gate and its Individual emotional counterpart: true intimacy is only possible when we show up as ourselves, but showing up passionately as ourselves is always a risk that could result in rejection. For those who built strong tribal bonds in the previous nodal season, perhaps this risk will be lessened.

The potential of integrating and working with these two oppositional energies is for relational change. When the mutative energy of Gate 55 is met with the bonding energy of Gate 59 — when two individuals risk coming together in a flurry of passion, individuality, vulnerability, excitement, touch, and intimacy — the relationship between them is always transformed.
